Incoming UNESCO and OECD study visits of the Luxembourg data ecosystem

On 1 and 2 July, Luxembourg welcomed delegations from UNESCO/DBS and the OECD/DKI for a series of information sessions and site visits highlighting the country’s advanced digital ecosystem and its approach to secure, sovereign and innovation-driven digital infrastructure.

The programme brought together key actors from Luxembourg’s technology ecosystem, including LuxProvide, Clarence, Proximus, POST Luxembourg and Deep, who presented the country’s capabilities in high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence infrastructure, cloud services and digital connectivity. Discussions also highlighted Luxembourg’s nationally coordinated approach to cybersecurity, centred on the Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity, and its commitment to creating a trusted environment for data-intensive activities.

A central theme throughout both visits was Luxembourg’s ability to combine technological excellence with strong governance and regulatory alignment. The ecosystem demonstrates that data protection, cybersecurity and innovation are mutually reinforcing objectives, providing organisations with a secure foundation for digital transformation.

The delegations also visited MeluXina, Luxembourg’s flagship supercomputer, gaining first-hand insight into one of Europe’s most secure and powerful computing infrastructures. The visit illustrated how advanced computing capabilities can support research, innovation, artificial intelligence and the secure processing of sensitive information.
